Physical Development

As educators we believe in using a holistic approach to teaching. We ensure the environment both indoor and out is safe, suitable & fun. The learning environment, together with the children's input, is adapted to ensure the physical development program is relevant to each child, encouraging a greater capacity for learning and exploration. This includes encouraging children to foster an appreciation of the natural world, by exploration and discovery through our outdoor environment of plants, an edible garden, rocks, sand and water.

Curriculum Highlights

Masterchef Program

Our master chef program is a daily cooking program which allows the children an opportunity to assist the chef in preparing part of the day’s menu. It also includes the ‘garden to plate’ concept using our vegetable garden that the children care for.

Sports Programs

We offer sports programs run by qualified professionals with small class sizes to further enhance and develop children’s physical, social skills. They offer the opportunity to increase confidence whilst having fun learning ball skills , balance and co-ordination, through a variety of sports in an outdoor environment such as the local park.

Children’s Yoga

Our everyday yoga program is designed for the children to increase body awareness in a healthy non-competitive group, whilst also learning to manage anxiety and stress through breathing and body awareness. The program helps the children build concentration and confidence through learning how to use their bodies in a healthy way.

Munch & Move Program

Our Healthy Living Munch and Move program raises awareness with the children not only about why eating healthy and engaging in exercise is  important, but also gives practical, fun and interactive simple everyday strategies on how this is achieved.

How Physical Development Milestones Are Achieved

Gross Motor Skills

In the Nursery

In our nursery, the educators provided opportunities for the children to engage in increasingly complex sensory-motor skills and movement patterns. The children are able to manipulate equipment and manage tools with increasing competence and skill.

For Explorers

In our explorers room, the educators provide a balance of gross and fine motor movement experiences, to achieve increasingly complex patterns of activity, including dance, creative movement and drama. The children are able to demonstrate spatial awareness and orient themselves by moving around and through their environments confidently and safely.

For Pre School

In our preschool room, the educators provide a range of active and restful experiences throughout the day and support children to make appropriate decisions in further challenging themselves. The children are able to use their capabilities and dispositions with increasing integrations, skill and purpose to explore and respond to their world.
